LOS ANGELES — College of Kentucky freshman basketball player Terrence Clarke, who was planning for this year’s NBA draft, died Thursday in a car or truck crash, the university reported.
Clarke, 19, was a gifted prospect with a bright future, the school’s athletics division explained.
Kentucky head mentor John Calipari stated, “I am completely gutted and sick tonight.”
Calipari reported he was headed to Los Angeles to be with Clarke’s mom and brother.
The crash with yet another vehicle happened Thursday afternoon in the San Fernando Valley, a Los Angeles Police Section spokesperson reported.
Two regulation enforcement resources familiar with the investigation reported Clarke was traveling at a superior level of pace and ran a red mild. There were being no other accidents reported, the LAPD spokesperson claimed.
“A youthful particular person who we all appreciate has just shed his life much too shortly, just one with all of his dreams and hopes ahead of him,” Calipari reported in a assertion. “Terrence Clarke was a gorgeous kid, somebody who owned the area with his persona, smile and pleasure.”

The Boston Celtics tweeted their condolences to Clarke’s family members.

Celtics mentor Brad Stevens mentioned he heard about Clarke’s dying just after Boston’s gain against Phoenix Thursday.

He is survived by his mother and father, Osmine Clarke and Adrian Briggs, and his three siblings, Tatyana Grey, Gavin Clarke and Madison Adrianne, the college explained.
