‘It was a selfless act’: Teenage good Samaritan dies trying to save driver of car that plunged into lake

    FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida (WFOR) — Two teenagers are useless after a vehicle plunged into a lake in Dawn Tuesday night time.

College students at Western High School figured out about the tragedy when an announcement was built on Wednesday early morning.

Twelfth grader Coral Funes mentioned, “It was a selfless act. Throwing your self in there like that. It’s so sad what occurred to him, but it is wonderful what he did. It hit me because a lot of my close friends are 17 and you think about losing them.”

An unidentified 9th grade student explained to CBS4 Information, “It’s quite sad and a tragic issue.”

Fellow pupil Juan Chavarrio stated, “I believe this was really brave of him.”

The auto plunged into the lake in the Residences of Sawgrass Mills neighborhood along NW 12th Avenue close to Silver Palm Boulevard, just north of I-595 around 10:20 p.m.

Incident investigators spent Wednesday early morning placing the parts of a puzzle together, reconstructing what transpired.

They found the car still left the street, ran across the median, strike a tree, snapping it at its trunk, then continued up the sidewalk and into the drinking water.

“In this community, the kids usually like to go rapid. We’ve experienced two to a few incidents in the 33 decades that I have lived here,” claimed Marta Grove.

She said her neighbors have complained about reckless driving to the law enforcement and to the city, but it seems to have fallen on deaf ears.

“We talked with the affiliation. The affiliation says the metropolis won’t place in lights,” said Grove.

She hopes something will be completed so some thing like this doesn’t occur once more.

Sunrise Law enforcement advised CBS4 information that they have not received any problems not long ago about reckless driving. They say it is not known if the 18-year-aged driver was speeding.
