Hyundai has ongoing the exploration of higher-effectiveness motor automobiles beneath its N sub-manufacturer, whipping the covers off a new electrified race auto at Auto China 2020 in excess of the weekend. Generated in partnership with Rimac, the RM20e prototype is both equally a chopping-edge electrified racer and a harbinger of matters to come, with the South Korean automaker seeking to make sustainable drivetrains a frequent concept of its pursuits in the significant-effectiveness arena.
The RM20e follows before RM14, RM15, RM16 and RM19 “Racing Midship” prototypes, and is equally crafted off a rear-drive midship powertrain architecture. What is new is electrification, with 4 electric powered motors onboard that produce a whole of 810 hp and 960 Nm (708 lb-ft), propelling the RM20e from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in less than 3 seconds, on the way to 200 km/h (124 mph) in 9.88 seconds.
Hyundai describes its RM system as a “rolling lab” for its large-general performance systems, serving as a testbed to fantastic superior-efficiency systems prior to they make their way to long term N cars. In preserving with that, the RM20e’s prime velocity is mentioned as 250 km/h (155 mph), while the two-door coupe attracts its ability from a 60-kWh battery pack able of 800-volt rapid-charging.
The entire body is cut from the same mould as the Veloster N, and the inside of is equipped with Sabelt athletics seats, six-place basic safety harnesses and a dedicated E-push instrument cluster. Down underneath, in the meantime, are 19-inch alloy wheels housed inside of flared wheel arches.
“Our new electrified RM20e pushes the confirmed RM platform forcefully into a new, environmentally-focused 10 years of the 21st century, stretching the effectiveness envelope of electrification on standard road environments,” claims Albert Biermann President and Head of Investigate and Growth Division at Hyundai Motor Team. “RM20e signifies a innovative new chapter of electrified performance for the Racing Midship collection, and our N engineers proceed to garner beneficial insights in the arena of zero-emission overall performance dynamics.”
