Car hits cyclist, flees scene in airport area

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Shocking video clip displays the moment a driver struck a bicyclist in the airport place Thursday afternoon.

Police say the hit-and-run occurred on Mill Branch Highway in close proximity to Brooks Highway. Officers responded to the scene at around 1:53 p.m.

Dashcam online video captured by a witness displays a black motor vehicle striking a person on a bicycle as it pulled out of a parking great deal. The driver and a passenger get out of the vehicle to examine on the guy.

The male can be viewed swinging his bicycle at the driver. The driver and passenger get back into the motor vehicle as the person techniques them.

The vehicle can then be viewed approaching the bike owner again. The guy then throws his bicycle at the car and strikes the car with his hand.

As the man picks his bicycle up and starts leaving the scene, the motor vehicle drives on to the sidewalk and hits him once more, sending him spiraling down to the ground. The vehicle then makes a U-convert and speeds absent.

Thursday night, Memphis Police said anyone experienced been arrested, but it was not the driver.

Police say the bicycle owner had warrants out and has been taken into custody.

WREG spoke with the driver who captured the intensive times on his dash cam. He needs to continue to be anonymous.
